3 Silent Film Evenings With Live Piano Scores By Composer Robert Bruce (7:30 pm - 9:30 pm)

Composer/pianist Robert Bruce performs his live original piano scores in 3 classic 1920s silent film programs.

Among the ever-increasing number of musicians who currently perform live to classic silent films, Bruce is particularly noted for the quality of his presentations and the strength of his original music.  He limits himself to working with films/programs (presently 9) he feels a strong artistic connection to, and that work “seamlessly” with his music.

Souvenir: A Fantasia On The Life Of Florence Foster Jenkins (8:00 pm)

"Souvenir: A Fantasia on the Life of Florence Foster Jenkins"
"They may say I can't sing, but they can't say I didn't."  ~ Florence Foster Jenkins

PRODUCER: 6th Street Playhouse presents

WHAT: "Souvenir: A Fantasia on the Life of Florence Foster Jenkins"
By Stephen Temperley

"Souvenir: A Fantasia on the Life of Florence Foster Jenkins" recounts the true story of Florence Foster Jenkins, a wealthy, tone deaf socialite who dreamed of being a great opera singer. Memories and experiences are recalled by her accompanist and friend, Cosmé McMoon in this poignant comedy that celebrates the spirit of a woman who defied criticism and followed her bliss.

Perhaps more famous now than when she pursued her dream, Florence Foster Jenkins efforts to become a great coloratura soprano led to fame and notoriety with annual private recitals at the Ritz Carlton Hotel; a sold-out concert at Carnegie Hall in 1944; and an impressive list of celebrity fans of her day including Cole Porter, Enrico Caruso and Tallulah Bankhead. Florence Foster Jenkins celebrity continues even today by enthusiastic fans who discover her story and her notorious vocal recordings on the Internet.

Featuring award-winning actress Mary Gannon Graham as Florence Foster Jenkins and John Shillington as accompanist, Cosmé McMoon - "Souvenir" takes audiences into Jenkins' world completely and even reveals the beautiful voice she believed to possess.

Xanadu (8:00 pm)

A young artist is trying to paint his enduring masterpiece (in chalk) on the boardwalk of Venice Beach and before you can say "roller disco!" his Muse appears in the form of Olivia Newton-John to guide him to full artistic satisfaction. Based on the legendary cult film with Newton-John and Gene Kelly, and packed with her chart-topping hits ("Magic," "I'm Alive," "Have You Never Been Mellow"), this is inspired lunacy at its most buoyant and hilarious.

Hey, it's the 80s, they did stuff like this then. Based on the legendary cult film with Newton-John and Gene Kelly, and packed with her chart-topping hits ("Magic," "I'm Alive," "Have You Never Been Mellow"), this is inspired lunacy at its most buoyant and hilarious.

Souvenir: A Fantasia On The Life Of Florence Foster Jenkins (2:00 pm)
