Five Star Night” Benefits Alameda County Meals On Wheels
Annual Celebrity Chef Fundraiser Hosted by Narsai David Set for May 2nd
Ensures More Homebound Seniors Receive Meals Daily
March 17th, 2008 (Oakland)—Five Star Night, the twenty-first annual fundraiser for Alameda County Meals on Wheels, will take place on Friday, May 2nd, 2008 at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension in Oakland. This spectacular event raises funds and awareness for Alameda County’s six Meals on Wheels Programs. It features a champagne and fine wine reception, silent and live auctions, gala dinner, and dancing to the live music of The Fabulous CruiseTones. The three course dinner and sumptuous dessert buffet, under the guidance of Narsai David and Ellen Tussman, will be created by 15 of the Bay Area’s finest chefs, all of whom donate their time and services to help reach this year’s fundraising goal of $200,000.
Made possible through the generosity of our sponsors, donors, bidders, chefs, guests, and volunteers. Funds raised at Five Star Night are immediately distributed to Meals on Wheels programs throughout Alameda County, providing freshly prepared meals for thousands of homebound and disabled seniors.

Established in 1987, Alameda County Meals on Wheels, a nonprofit 501(c)3, is a consortium of the six Meals on Wheels programs in the county. As many other urban programs increasingly rely on bi-weekly, frozen food delivery, Alameda County Meals on Wheels remains committed to providing warm meals and friendly visits daily. In fiscal year 2006-2007, nearly 600,000 warm nutritious meals were delivered to seniors in Alameda County, about 2,200 every weekday.
