The Bread Project 6/10/07 Benefit at B Restaurant & Bar in Oakland
The Bread Project and B Restaurant & Bar Knead Together
The Bread Project has teamed with B Restaurant & Bar in Old Oakland to launch their first joint benefit project. The Bread Project is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation that trains low-income and unemployed Bay Area residents in the skills needed for entry-level commercial baking and cooking positions and prepares their students for job finding and retention in the food service industry. B Restaurant & Bar is known for supporting of all things “good and local” and the owners have offered their space to host a series of dinners featuring a different Bay Area chef each time. The joint effort is intended to give graduating Bread Project students the opportunity to demonstrate their learned skills in a real kitchen situation and help raise funds for future students. All proceeds go directly to The Bread Project.
For the first in a series of dinners, B Restaurant & Bar will host on Sunday, June 10 beginning at 5:30 pm a 3-course $39.00 (excluding gratuity) prix fixe dinner (wine pairing available for an additional $15.00) prepared with locally sourced and seasonal ingredients by The Bread Project students under the guidance of the Project’s supervising chef, Saman Javid. The second dinner is scheduled for November 2007 and the guest chef will be Gloria Dominguez of Tamarindo Antojeria.
