CHECK GOOD TASTE AT THE DOOR

Early in the second act of Tom Orr’s raunchy, ribald, risqué and just plain dirty gay review, he suggests that patrons check good taste at the door. Never-the-less, Tom Orr, according to his press release, an “award winning lyricist-playwright-singer-dancer-actor-comedian-director and musical comedy porn star” is worth a visit. . . if you like that sort of thing.

The audience at the Thursday night performance was treated to Orr’s extremely professional demeanor even when he was a parody of himself. Parody is the key word. He takes well-known show tunes, adds ear shattering specific sexual lyrics while singing, dancing, changing into many costumes and ending the evening in the nude to the tune of “If Ya Got IT Flaunt It.” ("When You Got It, Flaunt It" - The Producers). He’s got it.

Musical director, and co-collaborator, Scumbly Koldewyn at the piano, and a sometimes duet partner with Orr, adds a touch of gentility. His opening “No Cellophane” (“Mister Cellophane- Chicago”) is a clever ditty to replace the boring ‘no cell phones, candy wrappers etc.’ It’s all down-hill from there but the ride is hysterically humorous as Orr changes from butch male to drag female. His routine, affirming that you can be anything you want to be when surfing the internet, such as a male being a female, was instantly recognized by all when he belted “Email Female” ( “I Enjoy Being a Girl”- Flower Drum Song).

A Gay marriage medley: “Since Gays Can Get Married”("If Mama Was Married" - Gypsy), “Married” ("Married/Heiraten" - Cabaret) in a duet with Scrumbly, and “Kids” ("Kids!" - Bye Bye Birdie) was a perfect change of pace following “Bitchslapped (“Witchcraft” – Frank Sinatra, Cy Coleman & Carol Leigh) and “Tim Gunn” (“Tonight”-West Side Story).

To end the first act he has The Filth Medley: THE CORONER SONG ("Corner of the Sky" - Pippin), PEEPHOLES! ("People" - Funny Girl), SUCKALITTLE! FUCKALITTLE! ("Pick A Little/Good Night Ladies" - The Music Man), I'M JUST A BOY WHO CAIN'T SAY NO ("I Cain't Say No" - Oklahoma!), THAT'S MASTURBATION! ("That's Entertainment!" - The Band Wagon), CAME A LOT ("Camelot" - Camelot), GETTING TO BLOW YOU ("Getting To Know You" - The King & I) - Scrumbly solo, THERE ARE WORSE THINGS I COULD DO (Grease), OH, THAT TREAT THAT YOU GIVE! ("On The Street Where You Live" - My Fair Lady), YOU ARE BOTTOM, I AM TOP ("You Are Woman, I Am Man" - Funny Girl), THOROUGHLY BOTTOM BILLY ("Thoroughly Modern Millie" - Title Song), PRETTY SHITTY GANG BANG ("Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" - Title Song), YA GOTTA GET A GIMMICK ("Ya Gotta Get A Gimmick" - Gypsy
