Theatre Flamenco’s “Al Compas del Tiempo” is a soul-stirring performance event that bids you to leave the frenetic pace of the modern world behind in celebration of life’s quiet moments.

“Al Compas del Tiempo” is choreographed by Carola Zertuche, and performed by Theatre Flamenco’s distinguished company alongside an extraordinary group of special guest artists: Juan Siddi Aivir (co-choreographer), singers, Felix de Lola and Jesus Montoya, and Spanish guitarist Jose Valle “Chuscales.”

JUAN SIDDI AIVIR is an internationally recognized powerful and passionate flamenco dancer. He danced with Compania Flamenca Alhama and Noches de Amor productions on international tours for seven years and was the principal male dancer at a birthday gala for Herzogin von Wurttenburg and His Majesty Juan Carlos of Spain. Here, he and the company were recognized for their representation of Spanish culture in Europe.

JESUS MONTOYA (Sevilla, Spain) was born into one of the oldest Gypsy families. His voice is steeped in Flamenco purity and power leaving his audience feeling enchanted, captivated and loved. Widely known as “The Gypsy Dynamo” and “Pavarotti of flamenco,” Jesus has toured tirelessly with every single top major Flamenco company throughout the United States and Canada and captivated audiences worldwide.

JOSE VALLE “CHUSCALES” is one of today’s leading flamenco guitarists. Born into a gypsy family in Spain, he grew up performing with his relatives in the legendary caves of Sacromonte. Internationally acclaimed as both a soloist and accompanist, he has worked with some of Spain’s most outstanding artists, including La Cingla, Farruco, La Tati and el Guito.

FELIX DE LOLA (Sevilla, Spain) is a renowned flamenco singer who has performed with illustrious artists on the world stages throughout Western and Eastern Europe, Costa Rica, South Africa and the United States.

Powerful. Passionate. Not to be missed. Theatre Flamenco’s annual home season at the Cowell Theater is sure to take your breath away.

DESCRIPTION:

The one and only San Francisco Hip Hop DanceFest is an amazing constellation of 23 dance companies from the international hip-hop nation! Artists from Europe to Japan and across the U.S. will converge in San Francisco to pop ‘n’ lock, break, and generally inspire you to get your groove on!

These are trendsetters rather than followers – each and every company brings an entirely different flavor to the table. Elements of Motion, Mop Tops, Soul Sector, and DS Players are some of the finest performers of classic break and hip hop styles around. You may have seen The Chicago FootworKINGz on one of their commercial spots, check em’ out live at their Bay Area debut. Then there are amazing artists who fuse other styles of dance with their hip-hop language, like Lux Aeterna from Los Angeles, and San Francisco’s own Loose Change and Soulforce. Other highlights of the 2007 lineup include the U.S. debut of Nobulus (formerly Moving Shadows from Vienna, Austria); the ever-innovative Over the Influence from Vancouver; plus two Japanese soloists by way of New York - Kenichi Ebina and Takahiro team up at the DanceFest with a new duet that showcases their incomparable abilities as storytellers and illusionists.

Tickets are going fast! Get your seat at this premier event and check out what all the excitement’s about - The San Francisco Hip Hop DanceFest has been credited as THE #1 event of its kind and it has put San Francisco on the map as a leading presenter of hip hop dance.
